Ryan James Dailey writes speculative fiction for readers who don’t want to be scared but want to survive.

“Not all missing people are missing. Dip your toes here with me a second,” Waylon says, finishing with his phone and returning it to his pocket. “Did you know that Washington state has one of the highest missing persons rates in the country? It’s true. There are almost eleven missing per hundred thousand people every year. Sure, a few of them come around, but not all. In a coastal town like this, we lose a couple of tourists or outdoorsy types every year. No one bats an eye. But compare us to the Pacific Crest Trail, and there’s not a lot going on here in Ashland.”
